Many years ago I was big into printable planners. I still use one PDF that I bought and downloaded from Secret OWL Society back then. On a whim, I Googled Michelle Rohr to see if she was still around. She is!
I explored Michelle’s website and discovered her podcast, The Magic Is You. I listened to the two most recent episodes and had an epiphany.
Michelle talks about how we should stop trying to solve our audience’s problems and focus on our own. This is what will lead us, if we’re so inclined, to find the people for whom our work will resonate.
I’ve become weary of all the hustle and crush it gung ho advice. It never really worked for me although I was prepared to give it a go, back in the day. But so much has changed over the past few years that I can no longer give this philosophy any headspace.
That’s not to say there aren’t things I want to achieve but I’m looking for a different methodology, one more aligned with who I am now and how I want to live.
I’ve looked for a new methodology that I can adopt but, so far, I haven’t found one. I suspect I need to create the framework for myself.
The antidote to hustle and crush it, the philosophy that Michelle advocates makes much more sense. Start with yourself. Solve your own problems instead of trying to solve someone else’s. Perhaps, in the process, your solution will help someone else.
