So far, 2024 has been hectic! In a very good way. Lambing started on 8th January and I’ve gradually become more immersed in the daily routines. Now, I let out our hens, feed and water them, then go over to the sheep shed to feed and water the ewes, and give corn nuts to the newly lambed.
I’ve delivered my first lamb, learned how to recognise impending births, and administered an antibiotic injection for a poorly foot. It all far exceeds my wildest imaginings, and I’m living my best life.
Along the way, I gained a new friend, Dot Dot. She follows me around as I go about my jobs, and runs over as soon as she sees me. There is some deeper connection between us. It amazes me every day and I love our little chats. She bleats when I leave and calls after me.
I’ve started a YouTube channel as the videos I make on the farm are too long for Instagram Stories. I’ll be sharing more about our farm life, and our exploits in our rural community.
What’s in store in 2024?
I’m still contemplating my 2024 plan. While I have a good idea what the year might look like, I’m letting things percolate and not rushing in.
This quote from Elizabeth Gilbert is often at the back of my mind and I’m focusing on my curiosity rather than my fear. It definitely helps and I’m following what brings me joy and seeing where that leads me.
I’ve had several really lovely comments about the stories I’ve shared, especially on Instagram, which have spurred me on.
The first time on a podcast in a while
and I have known each other for a while, and I recently worked with Sarah on my Human Design. It was illuminating and very relevant to this year which I plan to live in greater alignment. Sarah’s translation of my Human Design profile showed me my natural style and the opportunities that are available by embracing my type as a Manifestor. I’d highly recommend finding out your own Human Design type. You can get your own free chart here.
In the meantime, you can watch the video version of the podcast.
Apple trees and Snowdrops
We finished planting the orchard at the farm last weekend. Phil spotted some Snowdrops peeping through. Today I went to check on their progress. I’ll be on Snowdrop Watch now, waiting for them to grow and bloom fully. I’ll be reporting back!
Digital Decluttering
I’ve felt a need to pare back lately - endings always seem to do that for me. I’ve had a big declutter of stuff in the house that we no longer needed, all my old work clothes, items that hadn’t seen the light of day for 12 months or more.
This blitzing naturally led on to a digital declutter and tidy up. I’ll write more about this.
Decluttering creates better focus. I unsubscribed from old podcasts, ones that don’t publish any more, those with episodes I no longer listened to.
One of the podcasts still in my Library is How I Write by David Perell. I started listening to this podcast:
I’m only part way through this episode but can’t wait to listen to more from Riva. David Perell says, her writing roars with spirit and rips with authenticity. I couldn’t say it any better.
